In recent years, there has been a significant increase in allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, asthma, and rhinitis—conditions that negatively affect patients’ overall well-being, often prompting them to seek natural remedies.
The University of Naples (link for further reading) analyzed the effects of olive leaf extract on human mast cells (HMC-1.2), which play a key role in allergic processes, and obtained promising results: the extract was able to reduce both histamine and the release of other inflammatory substances, while also decreasing the gene expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Olive leaf extract could therefore represent a new therapeutic approach to managing allergic inflammation, improving the quality of life for those affected by these conditions. This fascinating potential will be among the many topics explored at Sol2Expo – Full Olive Experience, taking place from March 2 to 4, 2025, at Veronafiere.
